In a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Antonio Costa, President Pezeshkian described the attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime as a blatant violation of legal norms and international principles.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n Pezeshkian stressed that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed and will remain inaccessible to vessels linked to aggressor states and their supporters, warning that any external intervention would carry serious and far-reaching consequences.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n He urged European countries to abandon a negative and unconstructive approach toward Iran, and instead adopt policies grounded in international law that foster constructive engagement.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n The Iranian president further said the US-Israeli assault was unprecedented and directly contradicted the values the European Union claims to uphold. He noted that Iran had been engaged in constructive diplomacy but was targeted during negotiations, indicating that the aggressors favor pressure over dialogue.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n Reaffirming Iran’s inherent right to self-defense, Pezeshkian added that ongoing regional instability, particularly in relation to the Strait of Hormuz, is a direct result of hostile actions by the US and Israel.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n He once again called on European nations to align their policies with international law rather than pursuing a destructive course toward Iran.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n For his part, European Council President Antonio Costa voiced concern over the geopolitical and economic consequences of the conflict.
