Annual Feb marches staged across IRI
Annual February marches in commemoration of the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran were staged in Tehran and other cities and provinces across the country Tuesday.
In Tehran, people marched in eight different directions all converging in the landmark Azadi (liberty) Square northwest of Tehran.
Azadi Square was decorated beautifully to host revolutionary people who came to streets to renew their allegiance with the founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (PBUH) and announce their strong support to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Traffic police and aid workers were at the ready to render services to the marchers.
On the sidelines of Bahman 22 rallies, 17 pavilions presented data sent down by the Iranian Omid satellite which was sent into orbit last week.
The pavilions also gave information about the Satellite in the form of puzzles of the Omid satellite's images, booklets and CDs.
Tehran municipality too had established some pavilions to render cultural and social services to the people. Different gifts such as IRI flags and colored balloons were given to children participating in the demonstrations.
The people last night chanted Allah-o Akbar in squares, streets, mosques or on rooftops across the country in a symbolic show of religious unity and a reminiscence of days of struggle against the deposed Pahlavi regime.
Allah-o Akbar, verbally meaning Allah is beyond description has been the main slogan of the Iranian nation in their fight against the Pahlavi regime. It was also the main slogan of Muslims early in Islam.
The slogan connotes that no power could stand against the will of nations once they have faith in Allah and rely on the Almighty God.
The slogan has found its place on the Iranian flag as a key token of the Islamic platform of the revolution which put challenge to imperialist and expansionist policies of superpowers and inspired oppressed nations to decide their fate on their own.
The night of Tehran Monday was illuminated during the chanting ceremony with Tehran municipality preparing ceremony teams to set off fireworks in 30 points of the city.
Mausoleum of late Imam Khomeini (PBUH) in southern Tehran, Milad Tower, Azadi and Tajrish squares as well as Laleh, Mellat, Pamchal and Police parks and Bahman and Khavaran cultural complexes were among the 30 designated locations.
