Fadlallah slams Arabs over Israel ties

Senior Lebanese Alim Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah strongly criticized Arab countries for normalizing their ties with the Zionist regime.

“Have you completely excluded the Palestinian plight from your calculations? Have you totally omitted the al-Aqsa Mosque from your agenda? Then why is it that you do nothing in support of the Mosque? You do not even impose sanctions on Israel,” said the Alim during his Friday prayer sermon at the Imamayn Hassanayn Mosque in Beirut's Haret Hreik district.

“The problem is that certain Arab and Muslim politicians do not respect the sanctities of their religion. On the contrary, Israel sanctifies its superstitions. Arab leaders ignore the fact that generations of Palestinians die under torture in Israeli jails or as a result of Israeli blockades,” added the cleric.

Fadlallah said the Arab League has turned into a union for resolving Arab disputes, while the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has also abdicated its responsibilities by resorting to statements.

The Alim's comments come as the Health Ministry officials in Gaza say that 46 patients, including 10 children, have died during the last two months because of Israel's continuing siege of Gaza.

Israeli has not lifted its blockade of the costal strip, although, an Egypt-brokered truce deal came into effect between the regime and Palestine's democratically elected government of Hamas 78 days ago.

On Wednesday, the ministry called on Egypt, as the official mediator of the deal, the Arab League, the International Red Cross and various human rights groups to pressure Israel to comply with the agreement.
