Red Crescent Chief said at the conference “The Wake-Up Bell: From Iran to Palestine”:
Silence over the Suffering of Palestinians Is Unacceptable
Pirhossein Kolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, stressed that the suffering of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, must not be ignored, saying that defending human dignity and standing with oppressed people transcend borders.
TEHRAN (Qodsna) – Speaking at the national conference “The Wake-Up Bell: From Iran to Palestine,” held at the Holy Defense Museum in Tehran on the occasion of the 13th of the Iranian calendar month of Aban, National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance, Kolivand said the voices of Palestinians must be heard worldwide and that younger generations have a responsibility to ensure their plight is not forgotten.
He described Palestine as a symbol of resistance and sacrifice, emphasizing that Palestinians and the people of Gaza have the right to live in peace and security.
Kolivand also highlighted the devastating humanitarian toll of the conflict, citing more than 80,000 Palestinian fatalities, including over 19,000 children and 16,000 women, according to figures he presented. He also referred to the heavy casualties in Lebanon.
Condemning attacks on medical and humanitarian facilities, he said nearly 1,600 healthcare workers had been martyred in Palestine. He added that hospitals, ambulances, educational facilities and other civilian infrastructure in Lebanon had also come under attack.
Kolivand further noted that the Iranian Red Crescent had helped transfer a number of injured people from the region to Iran for medical treatment, with many subsequently recovering.
He stressed that attacks on medical centers, relief workers, journalists and essential infrastructure represent a serious humanitarian concern, reiterating that silence in the face of human suffering is unacceptable.
