Israeli election results won’t change its expansionist nature of regime: Lebanese MP

A Lebanese legislator says the final results of Israel’s legislative elections, which are the first since the October 7 attacks and genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, will not make any changes in the expansionist nature of the Zionist regime.

“I believe it is unlikely that the outcome of the Israeli elections will change the expansionist characteristics of the regime, and its attempt to maintain occupation of the Lebanese soil. Any cabinet that is formed will have the same approach,” Abdul Rahman Bizri said on Thursday.

Bizri added that the Arab-led parties Ra’am and the Joint List could take 20 seats, which will allow them to play an effective role in the formation of Israel’s next coalition administration.

With approximately 90 percent of ballots tallied and both principal political coalitions falling below the 61-seat threshold required to form a cabinet, Tuesday's voting in the Israeli-occupied territories have produced no definitive victor.

The Israeli Central Elections Committee announced on Wednesday that it had counted more than five million votes by 9 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT).

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition is projected to obtain 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset, whereas the opposition coalition headed by Gadi Eisenkot is anticipated to acquire 48 seats.

Final electoral outcomes may be announced as soon as Thursday evening.

More than 500,000 special dual-envelope ballots remain pending tabulation, which could potentially alter the seat allocation.

These include votes cast by military personnel, diplomatic staff, and other individuals voting away from their registered polling stations.
