Hamas: Palestinian’s killing in West Bank adds to Israel’s record of crimes
Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi held Zionist regime’s forces and settlers responsible for the escalating attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank following the killing of 51-year-old Mashhour Yassin during an attack on the town of Yasuf, east of Salfit.
Mardawi mourned Yassin, saying his killing represented another crime added to the growing record of Zionist regime’s attacks against the Palestinian people. He warned of continued attacks targeting Palestinian towns, villages, residents, and their property.
Mardawi said settler attacks, including shootings and assaults against Palestinians and their property, are taking place under the protection of Zionist regime’s forces, which provide cover for the violence.
The Hamas official stressed the need for Palestinians across the occupied West Bank to stand together in confronting settler attacks, protecting villages, towns, and farmers, and preventing attempts to impose new realities on the ground.
He also called for strengthening Palestinian unity and popular solidarity in confronting the attacks, saying that protecting Palestinians, their land, and their property is a national responsibility.
Mardawi warned against the continued escalation of settler violence across the occupied West Bank and called for expanding forms of resistance to confront the attacks and protect Palestinians and their land.
Yassin, 51, died Thursday evening from wounds sustained during an Israeli settlers’ attack on Yasuf town, east of Salfit in the occupied West Bank.
Mohammad al-Ramahi, director of Salfit Government Hospital, confirmed Yassin’s death from injuries sustained during the attack.
Settlers from the Havat Anton outpost attacked the al-Nasba area east of Yasuf on Thursday. During the incident, Israeli forces opened live fire, injuring two Palestinians, according to the report. One was shot in the abdomen, while another was wounded by live-fire shrapnel in the waist. Israeli forces also detained several Palestinians.
Zionist regime’s forces also stopped an Al-Zaytouna ambulance in Yasuf, seized the vehicle’s key and threw it away, obstructing the work of emergency medical crews and preventing them from carrying out their duties.
Separately, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews treated four Palestinians affected by pepper spray used by settlers in Deir Ibzi, near Ramallah.
Settler terror attacks against Palestinians and their property have occurred on a near-daily basis across the occupied West Bank, with around 20 Palestinians killed and many others wounded since the beginning of the year.
