Hezbollah leader: Iran thwarted US-Israeli war goals; ultimate victory belongs to resistance
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah’s secretary-general has underlined Iran’s victorious confrontation against unprovoked American-Israeli aggression.
Sheikh Naim Qassem made the remarks addressing a conference on Saturday during which he referenced the Islamic Republic’s numerous successful retaliatory operations in the face of the February 28-April 7 aggression.
The aggression had sought to overthrow Iran’s Islamic establishment, “but it (Iran) confronted the challenge” notwithstanding the duration of the confrontation, he stated, while stressing that the regional Axis of Resistance was likewise impervious to enemies’ efforts at prolonging confrontation.
“Even if it takes a long time, Iran has won, and even if it takes days or months for us, we are victorious because we stood firm and prevented them from achieving their objectives,” Sheikh Qassem said.
He added that continued resistance would eventually expose weaknesses on the opposing side.
“Gradually, cracks must emerge, and the enemy will fall on the material level, and with determination and steadfastness alongside our people, we can reach the desired outcome,” Sheikh Qassem said.
‘Resistance only means of liberating occupied land’
The Hezbollah leader described resistance as the only means of confronting the Israeli regime and hegemonic powers, liberating occupied land, and supporting the Palestinian cause.
“We are people of right, and owners of the land, and we must resist no matter how great the sacrifices are, and victory will come, God willing,” he said.
Lebanon has “tested this resistance and found that it liberates the land, the human being, and forces the Israeli enemy to leave humiliated and compelled to withdraw, while also restoring vitality and potential to the Palestinian cause,” he said.
‘Palestinian cause a central issue’
Sheikh Qassem also described the Palestinian cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression as a “central issue,” while arguing that resistance should take different forms depending on circumstances and individual roles.
“Resistance means rejecting the enemy and fighting when we are capable of fighting, each according to their position and role,” he said.
He further called on youths to work towards Islamic unity, saying efforts towards unity “must continue, as must the resistance.”
