Arab group warns of Israeli escalation in West Bank, rejection of Gaza roadmap

The Arab Group at the United Nations warned on Thursday of escalating Zionist regime’s measures in the occupied West Bank and efforts to undermine international attempts to implement the roadmap for the Gaza Strip, reaffirming its rejection of any steps aimed at entrenching the occupation or imposing Israeli sovereignty over Palestinian territory.

In a statement before the UN Security Council, the group condemned Zionist settlement expansion, particularly the E1 plan east of occupied Al-Quds, saying such measures violate international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334, as well as the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice.

The group stressed that any measures aimed at imposing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories are “null and void and have no legal effect,” calling for their rejection and for the international community not to recognize any consequences resulting from them.

It emphasized that achieving a just and lasting peace in the region requires ending the occupation, enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination, and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Al-Quds as its capital.

The group highlighted continued Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank, including attacks on civilians, land seizures, home demolitions, forced displacement and escalating settler attacks.

It called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by compelling Israel to halt these practices and holding those responsible accountable, in order to protect Palestinians and stop measures threatening their presence on their land.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, the Arab Group condemned Israel’s declared rejection of the roadmap aimed at completing the implementation of the US plan to end the Israeli assault, warning that the Zionist regime’s position threatens efforts to put the roadmap into effect.

The group called for the immediate implementation of the roadmap, an end to the Zionist regime’s assault on the Gaza Strip, and safe and unhindered humanitarian aid access to the population. It also called for the necessary conditions to be established for the reconstruction process to begin.
