18 days under siege: Three Palestinian families trapped in Qusra by settlers and Israeli forces
Three Palestinian families in the Jabel Ras al-Ain area of Qusra town, south of Nablus, have entered their 18th consecutive day under siege by extremist Jewish settlers, while Israeli forces continue to block access roads and enforce severe movement restrictions, keeping the residents confined to their homes
Trapped inside the besieged homes are women and children facing worsening shortages of food, water, and basic supplies. Outside, settlers continue to surround the area and have taken control of local water sources, according to media sources.
The prolonged siege has left Jabel Ras al-Ain families living in constant fear. Residents report that even simple actions, such as opening a door, looking out of a window, or stepping outside, put their lives at risk.
Living in a home prison
Abdul-Karim Hassan, whose children are among the besieged families, described their conditions as severe and deteriorating, adding that he checks on their safety constantly, phoning them more than 10 times a day.
Driven by anxiety for their safety, Hassan climbs a neighboring hill facing the besieged homes each day to monitor the area and stay as close to his children as possible.
According to Hassan, the besieged families face a severe shortage of essential supplies as settlers and soldiers prevent food, water and infant formula from reaching the houses.
Hassan’s family cannot leave the house or open doors and windows normally, while internet service in the area has been cut off, and the constant presence of settlers around the home has become a permanent source of fear.
For Hassan’s family, nightfall brings the deepest terror. They spend the dark hours on high alert, bracing for a sudden settler attack. Previous arson attacks on West Bank homes serve as a constant warning of what could happen next.
“They are forbidden from going outside or opening doors and windows. They can hardly breathe. They are living in a prison,” Hassan said sadly.
