Hamas: Israel is using children’s kites as pretext to escalate attacks on Gaza
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem warned on Sunday of the danger posed by Zionist regime’s claims and threats regarding what Zionist regime describes as the “launching of kites,” saying they are primarily children’s toys being flown in displacement camps in the remaining areas of the Gaza Strip, while the Zionist regime’s military controls around 70% of the territory.
In a press statement, Qassem said Zionist regime’s threats based on fabricated pretexts were an attempt to justify continued attacks and violations against the Palestinian people, extending even to threats against children in Gaza.
He called on the US administration, mediating and guarantor countries, and the Peace Council to pressure Zionist regime to halt what he described as its unchecked aggression against Palestinians.
Qassem warned that the continued Zionist regime’s actions were aimed at undermining the ceasefire process, which he said the Palestinian side remains fully committed to.
His remarks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Army Minister Israel Katz issued threats on Sunday that included possible assassinations and the evacuation of neighborhoods in Gaza in response to what Israel believes are kites and balloons being launched from the territory toward nearby Israeli communities.
Zionist regime’s media reported in recent days that several kites allegedly launched from Gaza had landed in communities near the territory, noting that they were not carrying explosives.
In a statement, Netanyahu’s office threatened to evacuate areas in Gaza from which it said balloons, drones and kites were being launched. It also threatened to intensify attacks against those it holds responsible unless Hamas immediately stops the launches.
