Palestinians affirm right to resist ‘in all forms’ as Gaza marks 1,000 days of genocide

Palestinian resistance factions have affirmed their people's "right to resist occupation in all forms" and rejected "any foreign tutelage" over Palestinian affairs, as Gaza marks 1,000 days of Israeli genocide that has martyred more than 73,000 Palestinians.

"One thousand days have passed since the beginning of the Zionist genocide in Gaza, carried out with direct support from the US administration and western governments," the joint statement by Palestinian factions said on Thursday.

The factions declared that Israel has failed to achieve its declared war objectives, including displacement and uprooting, despite the massive destruction and humanitarian catastrophe.

They stressed "the necessity of escalating resistance in the West Bank, al-Quds, and all our occupied land" and emphasized that Gaza's administration is a "purely internal Palestinian matter."

The statement comes as Israel continues to violate the US-backed ceasefire agreement that took effect in October. According to the Gaza Government Media Office, Israeli forces have committed hundreds of violations since the truce began, killing over 1,000 Palestinians and injuring 3,406 others.

On Wednesday alone, Israeli forces committed 17 new ceasefire violations, resulting in four Palestinian deaths.

The Gaza Government Media Office released a comprehensive statistical report marking the 1,000th day of the genocide, revealing that 73,066 Palestinians have been confirmed killed, including over 21,500 children and 12,500 women, while 9,500 people remain missing, including those under rubble or whose fate is unknown.

The report also stated that 173,514 Palestinians have been wounded, with 5,400 amputations, of which 18 percent are children.

It added that 2,700 families have been completely wiped out and erased from civil registry, while 6,020 families have only one survivor remaining, and more than 58,800 children have been orphaned.

Israel has destroyed approximately 90 percent of Gaza and now occupies 80 percent of the strip, dropping over 223,000 tons of explosives on the densely populated enclave. The war has caused preliminary direct losses estimated at 80 billion dollars, including 34 billion dollars in the housing sector alone.

The media office reported that more than 2.4 million people in Gaza have been subjected to genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing for 1,000 days. Over 350,000 families are in need of shelter, with more than 132,000 tents damaged and over 2 million Palestinians displaced.

The health sector has suffered devastating losses, with Israel destroying or forcing out of service 38 hospitals and 96 healthcare centers. More than 22,000 patients require treatment abroad but are prevented from traveling, and over 1.1 million children receive only one meal a day, described as a systematic starvation policy.

Israel has completely destroyed 1,047 mosques, partially damaged 210 others, targeted three churches, and killed 312 religious figures. More than 87 percent of agricultural land has been destroyed, and annual vegetable and fruit production has plummeted from 524,000 tons to just 20,000 tons.

The resistance factions urged the technocratic administrative committee to enter Gaza and begin carrying out its duties.

They called for comprehensive national dialogue to rebuild Palestinian institutions, including the Palestine Liberation Organization, and stressed the need for stronger Arab and Islamic pressure to secure a comprehensive end to the genocide.

The factions praised the October 2023 Operation Al-Aqsa Flood as a "natural response" to Israel's crimes and decades-long occupation of Palestine.

The ceasefire remains fragile, with Israel reportedly preparing a new onslaught against the strip, citing alleged Hamas recruitment and rearmament efforts. Israeli media has acknowledged that the prolonged conflict has failed to deliver a decisive victory.

The United Nations has warned that famine conditions have worsened across Gaza, with over 1.1 million people facing catastrophic food insecurity as aid deliveries remain severely restricted by Israel's continued blockade.
