Millions to attend martyr Ayatollah Khamenei’s funeral procession, foundation says

Yaqoub Soleimani, the foundation’s deputy for cultural and educational affairs, said at the third coordination meeting for funeral procession arrangements that the ceremonies will be conducted with full grandeur.

He said the million-strong turnout will ensure the event is recorded as a historical occasion and a national epic in the memory of Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said all available capacities and resources will be mobilized to serve mourners attending the national gathering, adding that hussainiyas, cultural complexes, and civic institutions across provinces and cities throughout the country had been prepared to provide services to the public.

Farideh Olad Qobad, the foundation’s deputy for cooperative and social affairs, said at the same meeting that foundation counselors and social workers will be present throughout the ceremonies.

She said a covenant document reflecting the lofty ideals of Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei was being prepared in both English and Arabic, so that the various dimensions of the great historical event could be clearly explained and conveyed to international audiences.

The farewell ceremony for Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei is scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, at the Imam Khomeini Musalla in Tehran.

The funeral procession will take place in the capital on Monday, July 6.

A procession will follow in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7, and a final procession will be held in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday, July 9.

Martyr Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest at the sacred shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on Saturday, February 28, in a deliberate terrorist attack carried out by the US and Israeli regime enemies.
