Lebanese display banners lauding Iran’s support for end to Israeli aggression on Lebanon
Banners expressing gratitude to Iran have been installed along a main road leading to Beirut’s airport, highlighting Tehran’s demand for a permanent end to the Israeli aggression against Lebanon in the recently signed Iran-US memorandum of understanding (MoU).
On Sunday, banners carrying messages of appreciation for Iran were displayed along the main road connecting Beirut to the city’s international airport, one of the capital’s busiest routes.
The banners featured images of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the current Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, alongside the message: “Thank you to loyal Iran.”
According to local reports, the displays were intended to express appreciation for Iran’s emphasis on the termination of Israeli aggression against Lebanon in the MoU.
Ali Ammar, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, said Iran has consistently supported the resistance movement and remained committed to its pledges.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has proven its commitment to supporting the resistance and has always stood by it,” Ammar stated.
Last Sunday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the MoU had been finalized following a series of intense negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
The MoU was signed digitally and remotely by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, in the early hours of Thursday.
Iran and the US are expected to hold a series of negotiations over the next 60 days in an effort to reach a comprehensive agreement on disputed issues.
According to the MoU, the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, was to end immediately and permanently from last Sunday.
On February 28, the US and the Zionist regime began their latest round of unprovoked aggression against Iran.
At the same time, the Zionist regime intensified its attacks on Lebanon in violation of a standing ceasefire with Beirut and a subsequent ceasefire arrangement.
During the American-Israeli aggression, which continued until April 7, Iranian armed forces carried out retaliatory operations against the aggressors’ interests, while also responding to Israeli violations of commitments in Lebanon.
Following the announcement of a ceasefire on April 8, negotiations to permanently end the war began with Pakistan’s mediation, which later led to the signing of the MoU.
