Palestinian martyred by Zionists’ gunfire near W. Bank wall

A Palestinian young man was shot martyred on Sunday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at him near the separation wall in al-Ram town, north of Al-Quds.

Medical sources reported that 26‑year‑old Imad Shtayyeh, from the town of Salem east of Nablus, was martyred after succumbing to wounds from Israeli gunfire in al-Ram town.

According to the Al-Quds Governorate, the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh that severed a major artery, resulting in severe bleeding before he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident comes weeks after two Palestinians were shot and injured by Zionist regime’s forces near the same wall on April 26. One of them had a bullet injury in the thigh while attempting to reach his workplace in Al-Quds.

Since October 2023, tens of thousands of West Bank families have been suffering the consequences of Zionist regime’s decision to revoke the work permits of more than 120,000 Palestinian workers.

Such an Israeli measure has worsened poverty and unemployment rates in the West Bank, forcing workers to risk their lives daily in order to secure a livelihood for their families.

Zionist regime, an occupying power, prevents the development of an independent Palestinian economy by restricting imports, exports, industrial development, and movement, and also by taking over land reserves and other Palestinian resources. This leaves Palestinians with no possibility to make a substantial living within the West Bank and forces them to risk entering Zionist regime to find daily jobs to support themselves and their families.
