US-Israel war
against Iran
Eric Walberg
Tehran (qodsna)- The US and Zionist regime started a fresh round of unlawful military aggression on Iran on February 28, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked attacks on the country.
Iran has also carried out extensive retaliatory attacks, with missiles and drones successfully hitting targets in the Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military assets in regional countries.
Qods News Agency interviewed with a Canadian writer, senior journalist and political expert Eric Walberg.
The interview comes as follows:
Qodsna: The Zionist regime is facing serious crises within the occupied territories, including internal disputes, reverse migration, lack of security, and psychological problems. The Zionist regime, in addition to the war with Iran, is also heavily involved in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank. The Zionist regime violates the ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon on a daily basis. How do you evaluate these ceasefire violations and crises?
Eric Walberg: Ceasefire is a nonsensical word in relation to US-Israel. Iranians/ Gazans/ Lebanese cease (resisting) while US-Israel continues to fire. There is no honour in warfare conducted by imperialism. But Iran was able to push US-Israel at least to pretend to 'ceasefire'. They cried 'uncle!', calling on Iran to stop launching hypersonic missiles at US bases and Israel itself. Meanwhile, the US continues its economic war against Iran by blockading and seizing Iranian ships.
Iran's only hope is that the world oil embargo will push gasoline prices high enough to make the brainwashed American people wake up and protest so loudly that Trump backs down and agrees to stop his hateful, irrational destructive war and withdraw from the Middle East. This will not happen in a hurry, and will require steelly resolve from Iranians.
Modern communications technology means that it is harder for US-Israel to hide its criminal activity. It also is used creatively in cartoons by Iranians to help the world understand that Iran is the victim and is really the only force for genuine peace in the world.
Qodsna: Many international analysts and experts believe that the United States and Israel failed to achieve their goals in the war against Iran, and Iran emerged as a new superpower. What is your opinion?
Eric Walberg: The ecological costs of this (any) war are huge. Planes flying, bombs exploding, people killed and buildings destroyed. The devastation that Iran suffered is enormous with thousands of civilian deaths, hundreds of schools and hospitals targeted by the vicious and criminal enemy. Even a massive new bridge bombed many times, killing nearby picnickers.
Iran is still standing and able to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed to the enemy, to make the world wake up to the illegal war. This was/is the intent of Iran, so in achieving these ambitious goals, Iran is winning.
We need quotation marks for Iran as 'enemy', as it is no one's real enemy, only so in the perverse imagination of US-Israel. No need for quotation marks for US-Israel as enemy, as US-Israel is indeed the enemy of not only Iran but the whole world, including Americans and Israelis. It is a forced hell-bent on world domination, and willing to destroy the world itself in the process.
Qodsna: Some media outlets are reporting on the Zionist regime’s moves to drag the United States into war against Iran again. What is your assessment? Will the US and Israel war against Iran resume again?
Eric Walberg: The war is ongoing. The economic embargo is war. And bombing continues. Just yesterday the US bombed Iran, a 'love tap' in Trump's words. As long as this criminal, new version of Hitler is tolerated by Americans, the war will continue. Even if Democrats win in the November midterm elections, the hostility against Iran will remain.
The instability of US elections in the face of a deep state that is the actual policymaker means that every few years, a new crop of puppet actors in installed, fresh and eager to carry out the criminal policies of US-Israeli imperialism.
It is important that China and Russia stay firm as Iran's allies. Trump faces so many domestic crises, we can hope that they will push the US away from Iran, to force the Trump regime to accept that Iran is not a threat to rational actors, to 'cease and desist'.
