Iran to confront any fresh attack with a strategy 'beyond enemy's calculations': IRGC official

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy's deputy for political affairs warns adversaries about the unpredictable scale, shrewdness, and manner of Iran's response to any fresh aggression.

"Any potential attack will be met with a strategy beyond the enemy’s calculations," Mohammad Akbarzadeh said on Wednesday.

He reminded that the United States had so far failed on all fronts against the Islamic Republic, stopping far short of overthrowing the country's Islamic establishment, taking away its enriched uranium, and dominating the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The official noted how efforts aimed at adversely affecting the Islamic establishment were confronted with the appointment of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei shortly after the martyrdom of his father and predecessor Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The US and the Zionist regime launched their latest round of unprovoked aggression targeting Iran from February 28 to April 7.

The latter date saw US President Donald Trump announce a unilateral two-week ceasefire after the Islamic Republic faced the aggression with at least 100 waves of decisive and successful retaliatory strikes.

In a move sending shockwaves throughout the global energy markets, the Islamic Republic shut the Strait of Hormuz to enemies and their allies and then deployed far stricter controls over the waterway after Washington sustained an illegal naval blockade it had imposed on the country.

Iran then ruled out returning to the negotiation table unless the blockade was lifted. Earlier on Wednesday and amid the Islamic Republic's continued resilience, Trump said he was "pausing" his so-called "Project Freedom," a much-hyped plan supposedly aimed at forcibly reopening the strait.

"At the negotiation table, Trump encountered a crushing response from Iran, and was forced to withdraw the ‘Freedom Project’ in the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours," Akbarzadeh said.

He also hailed the IRGC Navy for assertively enforcing the Islamic Republic's new rules concerning transit through the chokepoint, saying "With a new operational plan, the IRGC's Navy has demonstrated that Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz."
