Iran slams Zionist regime’s West Bank land grab as extension of genocide against Palestinians

In a statement on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned Zionist regime’s recent attempts to tighten its control over the occupied West Bank, particularly through the registration of land in Area C, which represents a de facto annexation of Palestinian land.

Baghaei said the move is in line with Israel's "colonial plans to annihilate Palestine."

The Iranian spokesperson emphasized that the international community and all member states of the United Nations are responsible to stand up against the move and end the Tel Aviv regime's impunity.

He noted that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the majority of countries have condemned Israel’s “illegal and criminal” move, stressing that the UN must take “decisive and effective” action to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities regarding Zionist regime’s continued violations of Palestinians’ rights, especially their right to life and self-determination.

Israel recently approved a series of sweeping measures in the occupied West Bank that Palestinians say violate the Oslo Accords and effectively constitute a de facto annexation of Palestinian territory.

The policy, announced by Israel's extremist finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and minister of military affairs Israel Katz, significantly alters governance in the West Bank, opening the way for expanded settlements, land seizures, and the erosion of Palestinian civil rights.

The measures lift longstanding legal restrictions on Israeli settlers, accelerate settlement expansion, and extend Israeli military and “civil” authority into areas that were previously under partial Palestinian control.

Signed in the 1990s, the Oslo Accords are agreements between the Israeli regime and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) that were meant to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and guarantee Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
