Pezeshkian highlights Iran’s endurance amid foreign pressure

Speaking at Tehran’s 22 Bahman rally, President Pezeshkian warned of foreign attempts to undermine Iran, praised the nation’s military heroes, and called for maintaining the national unity.

Speaking on Wednesday during the grand gathering of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution at Azadi Square in Tehran, Pezeshkian said that February 11 is “the day when people rose up against injustice, oppression, and tyranny.”

Referring to the goals of the Iranian people’s 1979 uprising, Pezeshkian said, “The people of Iran rose up to establish justice, ensure independence, and show the world that Iranians and Muslims can, with their ability, will, knowledge, and skill, build their country and bring dignity and freedom.”

The president added, “From the very first days of the Revolution, the enemies tried to destroy our fledgling movement through actions such as creating division and staging coups.”

Pezeshkian stated that despite efforts by the US and Europe to undermine the Revolution, including supporting former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and imposing the eight-year war in an attempt to weaken Iran, the country’s youth courageously defended the nation, its system, and the Revolution, giving their lives in the process.

He emphasized that while some groups in the past looted the country’s resources and today claim they can run the nation, the country’s honored martyrs had nothing but their lives, which they also sacrificed for the homeland and the nation’s pride.

The president reiterated the necessity of internal unity and cohesion, and that in the face of threats, conspiracies, and the misleading of the nation’s youth, there is no alternative but solidarity.

“Now more than ever, we need the wise guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to set aside problems and divisions, bring different views together, and lead toward a clear goal. The presence of the Leader is a strength that has allowed the system and the Revolution to move forward with power despite all challenges,” he added.

Pezeshkian highlighted the important role of regional and Islamic countries in thwarting the enemies’ plots. He noted that “countries in the region, one after another, shared their concerns and positions with us through phone calls.”

He expressed appreciation for the officials, presidents, and leaders of regional countries, including Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, saying they were “concerned about Iran and sought peaceful and diplomatic solutions to regional issues so that Israel and the US would not be able to implement their malicious plots.”

Millions of people from all walks of life came to the streets across Iran as nationwide rallies marking the 47th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution began across the country on Wednesday morning.

The rallies commemorate the Iranian people’s overthrow of the Pahlavi dictatorship, which had the full backing of the United States, in the winter of 1979.

Imam Khomeini returned from exile on February 1, 1979, receiving an enormous welcome from the public weeks after the shah’s departure in mid-January.

The downfall of the Pahlavi regime was sealed on February 11, 1979, when the military abandoned its allegiance to the shah and aligned itself with the Revolution.
