Araghchi calls for fair solution to Palestine issue

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, speaking at the 17th Al Jazeera Forum on “The Palestinian Issue and Regional Balance in a Multipolar World,” emphasized that Palestine is not merely a regional or humanitarian concern, but a cornerstone of sustainable security in West Asia and a test of the international community’s adherence to international law.

Araghchi described the ongoing situation in Gaza as beyond a conventional military conflict, highlighting mass killings of civilians and the destruction of critical infrastructure as violations of international law constituting genocide.

He warned that Israel’s continued immunity from accountability undermines global legal norms and risks replacing the rule of law with brute force, creating serious threats to peace and stability that extend beyond Palestine.

Addressing the regional dimension, Araghchi noted that Israel’s actions—including violations of state sovereignty, targeted assassinations of officials, and expansion of military operations without international consequences—have intensified insecurity across West Asia.

Criticizing discriminatory approaches in security and arms control, he stressed that imposing military dominance for one rogue state while weakening other countries does not ensure security but institutionalizes inequality and instability.

Araghchi called for concrete international action, including strong support for legal mechanisms and targeted sanctions, including an arms embargo on Israel.

He emphasized that any fair and sustainable solution must include ending the occupation, restoring the right of return for Palestinian refugees, and establishing an independent and unified Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital.

Concluding his address, Araghchi urged coordinated action among Islamic, Arab, and Global South countries to defend Palestinian rights effectively. “Sustainable stability can only be achieved through justice, accountability, and ending impunity, while confronting Israel’s expansionist agenda,” he said.
