Iran MP:

US, Israel fueling unrest to retaliate for 12-day war defeat

The head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission has said that recent unrest in Iran is a direct consequence of the failures of the United States and the Zionist regime in the 12-day conflict.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ebrahim Azizi emphasized that the enemies’ defeat in that confrontation prompted a decision to retaliate against the Iranian nation by instigating chaos.

Azizi commended journalists for their crucial role in informing the public, acknowledged the right of citizens to protest and critique, noting the Leader’s emphasis on listening to and addressing public grievances, whether economic or intellectual critiques.

However, he framed the subsequent events, which began on December 28 and led to the martyrdom of several security and military forces, as part of a calculated foreign adventurism.

Azizi said that the most significant catalyst for this external interference was the failure of the US and the Israeli regime’s 12-day war plan, which aimed at the disintegration, surrender, and overthrow of the Islamic Republic.

The official credited the epic and decisive presence of the Iranian people for thwarting that hostile project. He concluded that the recent instigation of unrest is a direct act of revenge for that prior strategic defeat.
