Press union:
Zionist regime commits 99 violations against Palestinian journalists in one month
The Zionist regime carried out 99 violations against Palestinian journalists in December 2025, including killings, physical assaults, abductions, and bans on media coverage, according to a Palestinian journalists’ advocacy group.
Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, in its monthly report on the state of media freedoms in the Palestinian territories published on Sunday, revealed that Israeli forces “continued in December 2025 a policy of systematic targeting of Palestinian journalism through a wide wave of serious violations.”
The freedoms committee of the syndicate said that the violations reflect “a high level of repression and restrictions” on journalistic work.
The organization said a journalist lost their life while carrying out field responsibilities, two journalists sustained serious injuries due to shelling and direct targeting, and two relatives of journalists were killed – all incidents occurred in the Gaza Strip.
In the occupied West Bank, the syndicate recorded 48 instances of abduction and obstruction from media coverage, along with 15 assaults that involved the use of tear gas and stun grenades while journalists were on duty.
Additionally, there were two attempted deliberate car ramming incidents targeting journalists, nine occurrences of weapons being displayed with threats directed at journalists, and six instances of direct verbal threats.
The report indicated that limitations on coverage and the suppression of field reporting suggest “a systematic Israeli policy designed to obstruct the dissemination of images and facts,” especially in Gaza and the West Bank cities of al-Quds, al-Khalil, Jenin, and Ramallah.
The syndicate documented two cases of assaults and physical mistreatment of journalists, the damage of one piece of journalistic equipment during an offensive, and the demolition of two journalists' residences due to Israeli airstrikes.
It also recorded two abductions, two summonses for security questioning, and two instances of organized incitement via Israeli media channels and information centers that “misrepresented journalists as being linked to armed groups.”
The syndicate recorded an incident involving an assault perpetrated by illegal Israeli settlers against a Palestinian journalist under the protection of the Israeli army.
This incident, the press union stated, “confirms the ongoing collaboration between the occupying forces and settlers in their assaults on journalists, amidst a climate of complete impunity.”
In early December, Gaza's government media office stated that 257 Palestinian journalists had been killed since the genocidal war began in October 2023.
A ceasefire that took effect on October 10 halted the major military strikes, which resulted in at least 71,386 Palestinian deaths and left Gaza in ruins. However, violence has persisted.
Gaza's Health Ministry reports that since the truce began, Zionist regime’s actions have martyred 420 Palestinians and wounded over 1,180 others.
