Asian Parliamentary Assembly resolution condemns US-Israeli aggression on Iran

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) has approved a resolution condemning the US-Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran in June, alongside adopting a separate unanimous resolution supporting Palestinian rights.

The meetings of the Standing Committee on Political Affairs and the Palestine Committee of the APA was held in the Iranian city of Mashhad on Thursday, attended by 15 parliamentary delegations from across Asia.

During the meeting, eight draft resolutions were reviewed and approved, covering issues such as good governance, the rule of law, judicial empowerment, parliamentary best practices, cooperation among Asian parliaments, democracy-driven development, and strengthening multilateralism.

Among the resolutions adopted was one proposed by the Iran, which condemned the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran. The measure passed with overwhelming support from the attending delegations.

On June 13, Zionist regime launched an unprovoked war against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.

More than a week later, the United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

In a separate session, the Palestine Committee unanimously approved a comprehensive resolution affirming support for the Palestinian people.

The resolution highlighted the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the right of return for refugees, underscoring these as fundamental and unquestionable rights.

In his address to the APA Standing Committee on Political Affairs on Thursday, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf condemned Israel’s “systematic genocide” in the Gaza Strip, which has martyred over 70,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

He also denounced the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression against Iran, Lebanon, Qatar, and Syria, saying the attacks constitute a direct threat to regional peace.

He further said Iran welcomes any initiative that ends the Israeli occupation and alleviates the Palestinians’ suffering, while categorically rejecting any attempt to impose any unjust peace upon the oppressed nation.
