Resistance factions unite in condemnation of Zionist regime's aggression on Beirut's southern suburb
Multiple Palestinian and regional resistance factions have issued statements condemning Zionist regime’s airstrike on Beirut’s densely populated southern suburb.
In statements issued on Sunday, the factions called the Zionist regime’s attack a deliberate act of aggression, a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, and a war crime enabled by the United States.
Zionist regime launched "a treacherous attack" on residential apartments in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh on Sunday that killed at least five people, including senior Hezbollah commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai and four resistance fighters, and wounded 28 others.
The unified statements from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Palestinian Mujahideen Movement, Ansarallah, Popular Resistance Committees, and Fatah Al-Intifada underscore a shared view across the “Axis of Resistance” that the Israeli aggression represents a dangerous escalation intended to undermine Lebanese sovereignty and the regional resistance front, with the United States repeatedly cited as the primary enabler of the Israeli strike.
The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas led the condemnations, calling the strike “a treacherous act of aggression and a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty” aimed at dragging Lebanon and the region into a wider confrontation that serves only the interests of the Israeli occupation.
Hamas described the targeting of a civilian area in broad daylight as reflective of “the nature of the organized terrorism committed by the occupation and its criminal leaders,” adding that the attack is intended to impose new equations and exert pressure on resistance forces.
Hamas expressed full solidarity with Lebanon and its right to defend its land and people, stressing that “the blood of the martyrs will strengthen the unity of the Lebanese people in confronting the American-Zionist domination attempts.”
The Palestinian resistance movement extended condolences to the families of the martyrs, wished a speedy recovery to the wounded, and affirmed that “the will of the resistance will remain stronger than all forms of aggression.”
Hamas called the Zionist regime’s strike a war crime that caused significant civilian harm and linked it directly to US pressure on Lebanon, describing it as part of broader efforts to keep the Lebanese people under political and economic coercion.
The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine stated in a communiqué: "With the highest expressions of jihad and resistance, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, mourn to our struggling Palestinian people, our Arab and Islamic nation, and our brothers, the leadership and mujahideen of Hezbollah, the martyred great jihadist commander in the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon: the martyr Hajj Haytham Ali Al-Tabatabai 'Abu Ali'."
It added that Commander Al-Tabatabai "ascended as a martyr on the path to Jerusalem alongside a group of his brothers in a criminal Zionist raid that targeted them in the southern suburb of Lebanon, after a journey filled with jihad and resistance during which he was a mujahid, a brave commander, one of the pillars of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, a symbol of the Axis of Resistance, and a supporter for the Palestinian resistance factions."
It continued: "Our pledge in the Al-Quds Brigades and the Palestinian Resistance is to continue on the path of Jerusalem, 'the path of the martyrs,' and to persist in our jihad and defense of Palestine and its sanctities until the complete liberation of the land from the filth of the usurping Zionists."
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) characterized the attack as a coordinated American-Israeli attempt to impose new rules of engagement by force, describing it as deliberate, organized state terrorism against a civilian area.
The PFLP emphasized resistance as the primary protector of Lebanese sovereignty and the force that strengthens national resilience.
The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement portrayed the bombing as another chapter in Israel’s “open-ended war on the region,” pointing to repeated breaches of ceasefires from Lebanon to Gaza and holding the United States fully responsible for enabling the escalation.
The group called for regional unity and collective mobilization in response.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Ansarallah movement condemned the strike as a criminal violation of both the year-long ceasefire and international humanitarian law.
The movement warned against narratives aimed at weakening or disarming the Lebanese resistance, arguing that such efforts serve only to destabilize Lebanon.
Ansarallah reaffirmed Lebanon’s right to resist and urged Arab and Islamic governments to take concrete action.
The Popular Resistance Committees in Palestine described the attack as a “barbaric” strike on a densely populated civilian area and a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement.
The Committees framed it as part of US-backed efforts to pressure Lebanon into disarming its resistance, viewing it as an extension of ongoing American-supported violations across the Arab world.
Fatah Al-Intifada Movement stated that the US-backed Zionist attack is part of a broader plan to reshape the region in favor of Israeli and American interests at the expense of regional stability.
Larijani consoles martyrdom of Tabatabai and resistance fighters
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani also condoled the martyrdom of Commander Tabatabai and four resistance fighters.
"On the night of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), one of the sincere followers of the path of the Lady of the Women of the Worlds, the mujahid brother Haitham Ali Tabatabai, a senior commander in Hezbollah, was martyred along with a number of his comrades at the hands of the criminal Zionists," Larijani said in an Arabic statement he posted on X.
"They achieved their goal, but Netanyahu continues his adventures until everyone realizes that there is no longer any path but to confront this illegitimate entity," he stated.
Larijani extended deepest condolences to the Secretary General of Hezbollah and to the mujahideen.
The Zionist regime’s attack on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital is the latest blatant violation of the ceasefire Israel signed with Hezbollah in November 2024, which was intended to end hostilities that had escalated into full-scale war.
An Israeli strike on the Ain al-Hilweh camp near Sidon in southern Lebanon late Tuesday killed at least 14 people. It wounded several others, including young students, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
According to Lebanese authorities, Zionist regime’s attacks have martyred approximately 4,000 people and displaced more than 1.2 million residents across the country since October 2023.
