99 out of 330 Palestinian bodies handed over by Zionist regime identified

Mahmoud Ashour, spokesperson for the Forensic Evidence Department in Gaza, announced that specialized teams have so far been able to identify 99 bodies out of the 330 that were recently handed over by Zionist regime via the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Ashour explained that the teams are continuing their intensive work to complete the identification process for the remaining bodies in preparation for their return to families or proper burial in accordance with the established procedures.

Zionist regime handed over the 330 bodies, which had been withheld after various incidents since the start of the genocide campaign on October 7, 2023, as part of the prisoner exchange deal under the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and the occupying state.

Samih Hamad, a member of the body management committee and forensic evidence specialist, revealed in previous statements that all the released bodies bore signs of severe torture leading to death or clear indications of field executions.

The committee published photos of the bodies on the “Sehati” platform run by Gaza’s Ministry of Health to help families identify the victims, as Zionist regime refused to provide any personal data for the victims.

According to Hamad, the bodies showed horrific signs: blindfolded eyes, hands tied behind the back, ropes around the neck, severe fractures, deep wounds to the head, abdomen, and neck, as well as burn marks, torn skin, and facial disfigurements.

Hamad stated that Zionist regime is “escalating its crimes against Palestinians, both living and dead,” noting that the lack of data worsens the suffering of families searching for missing loved ones. Gaza lacks the technical resources needed to examine and identify the bodies, forcing authorities to bury many in mass graves.
