UN: Forced displacement of Palestinians in the occupied territories is war crime
The United Nations Office for Human Rights has affirmed that the permanent forced displacement of Palestinians within the occupied Palestinian territories constitutes a war crime.
It emphasized that the Zionist regime's government’s claim of sovereignty over the West Bank and the annexation of parts of it is a clear violation of international law.
In a statement, the UN office said that the ongoing violations against Palestinians, including home demolitions, property seizures, and attacks by settlers and Israeli forces, form part of a systematic pattern of abuse.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called for an immediate end to attacks against Palestinians and their property, stressing the need to hold those responsible accountable. He also underscored the importance of enabling Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination, warning that Zionist regime’s ongoing illegal presence in the occupied territories and its settlement expansion obstruct that right.
He added that Zionist regime must evacuate settlers from the occupied Palestinian territories and immediately halt all settlement activities.
According to the latest UN data, over 1,500 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from the West Bank since the beginning of 2025 due to demolitions carried out under the pretext of lacking building permits.
The report also noted that 30 Palestinians, including four children, were injured in a single week due to ongoing attacks by Zionist settlers. Satellite images documented the destruction or damage of around 1,460 buildings in the Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem refugee camps.
In the same context, the UN office reported that settlers burned down a home in the village of Khirbet Abu Falah, near Ramallah, displacing a family of six.
Additionally, the United Nations documented that Israeli forces killed four Palestinians, including three children, in the West Bank between November 4 and 10, bringing the total number of children killed by Israeli forces in 2025 to 45.
These developments come amid escalating daily attacks by settlers under the protection of the Zionist regime’s military, along with continued raids on Palestinian areas, including occupied Jerusalem, since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
According to Palestinian medical sources, these assaults in the West Bank have resulted in 1,071 martyrs, nearly 10,000 injuries, and the arrest of more than 20,000 people, including 1,600 children.
