Yemen strikes Israel-bound cargo ship in Gulf of Aden

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced they struck the cargo ship Minerva Gracht in the Gulf of Aden with a cruise missile, as the vessel’s owner was violating the ban on entering Israeli-occupied ports.

According to a statement released by Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the Minerva Gracht cargo vessel was precisely targeted after its parent company breached the decision to prohibit docking in Israeli ports.

Saree confirmed that the strike resulted in a direct hit, causing a fire onboard and placing the vessel at risk of sinking.

He stressed that Yemen’s operations are part of its unwavering commitment to support the oppressed people of Palestine against “the crime of the century.”

The military spokesman reiterated that Yemeni forces will continue their operations until the aggression ceases and the siege on Gaza is lifted.

He further declared that the naval blockade against Israel in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden remains in full effect.

Saree also renewed warnings to all shipping companies and vessels about the consequences of violating this blockade, emphasizing that further strikes will follow any breaches.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian Resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.
