Trump presents plan to end war in Gaza; Hamas says plan close to Israeli vision

US President Donald Trump has presented a 20-point peace proposal for Gaza that he said would end Zionist regime’s war there following two years of genocide.
Zionist regime’s genocidal war on Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has so far killed nearly 66,005 Palestinians and left more than 167,000 injured.
Zionist regime’s killing spree in Gaza continued on Monday as Trump met with Zionist regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House and discussed the prospects for an end to the war in Gaza.
Trump said that “we’re beyond very close” after he revealed his plan, which includes an immediate halt to all military operations in Gaza.
He explained the peace plan he had presented to the Muslim and Arab leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Trump said the plan includes the release of all Israeli captives within 48 hours, demilitarization of Gaza and a phased withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Gaza.
The process will be overseen by a Board of Peace headed by leaders from the Arab world, Israel and the US.
Trump also referred to the clear opposition of the Israeli prime minister to Palestinian statehood.
He emphasized his full support for Tel Aviv, saying he would continue the campaign to make the occupied al-Quds the Israeli capital.
He called Monday a “historic day for peace.” Netanyahu praised Trump and expressed his support for the plan to end the war in Gaza.
Trump said he was “hearing that Hamas wants to get this done too.”
Trump's plan is 'close to Israeli vision'
Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi said the group has not yet received Trump’s written Gaza peace plan.
Mardawi said the plan, whose details have been released by American media, is close to the Israeli vision.
Mardawi noted that the provisions of Trump’s plan are vague and lack guarantees.
Regarding Trump's claim about demilitarizing the Gaza Strip, he said the weapons of the resistance have never been used for aggression against anyone, but are only meant for the freedom and independence of Palestine.
Criticizing the plan, he said what happened in Washington was an attempt to stifle the international momentum and the growing recognition of the Palestinian state.
Mardawi warned that Hamas will not accept any proposal that does not include the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and protection from massacres.
Islamic Jihad: Plan ‘recipe for igniting region’
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also reacted to Trump's so-called Gaza ceasefire plan.
The movement rejected the American-Israeli truce proposal as “a recipe for igniting the region.”
The Islamic Jihad said the plan announced by Trump and Israel’s prime minister is an American-Israeli agreement, which expresses Tel Aviv’s full position.
It added that the plan is a formula to continue the aggression against the Palestinian people.
The movement noted that by accepting this proposal, Israel seeks to impose on Palestinians what it could not achieve through war.
Gaza’s Media Office also rejects Trump's plan
Gaza’s Government Media Office also rejected the plan, saying it offers no just or durable solution.
The office warned that the plan only seeks to legitimize Israeli occupation, and strip Palestinians of their national, political and human rights.
It noted that the only way to end the genocide is to stop Israel’s attacks, lift the blockade of Gaza, end the systematic extermination of Palestinians, and guarantee their right to live in freedom and establish an independent state.
