Brazil joins the fight: Another nation stands up to Israel’s genocide in Gaza

Brazil is reportedly preparing to throw its legal weight behind South Africa’s genocide case against the Zionist regime at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The decision was first broken by Brazil’s Folha de S. Paulo newspaper and confirmed by Reuters on Wednesday, the agency citing a source familiar with the move.

South Africa launched the case in 2023 after the regime brought the coastal sliver under a full-on war of genocide, charging that the brutal military onslaught violated the 1948 Genocide Convention.

Last October, Pretoria filed a detailed submission to The Hague-based tribunal outlining evidence of the genocide.

The growing chorus of nations demanding accountability has already been joined by Spain, Turkey, and Colombia, which have filed to join the case.

Pundits billed Brasilia’s decision as a bold one, citing its placing the Latin American powerhouse squarely at odds with the United States, the regime’s biggest supporter.

‘The wall of impunity begins to crack’

Experts have also noted how the rising tide dents the regime’s impunity that has been enabled by the US, which invariably vetoes United Nations action against Tel Aviv.

Washington has coupled its outright political support with unreserved military aid that has been provided for Tel Aviv in billions throughout the entire course of the October 7, 2023-present warfare.

More than 59,200 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have so far perished during the onslaught.

The genocide also uses starvation as a “weapon of war,” as evidenced by Tel Aviv’s near-total siege on the Palestinian territory.
