American doctor: Hunger has reached horrific level in Gaza

American doctor Noor Sharaf, currently in the Gaza Strip, has warned in a statement on Wednesday that hunger in the enclave has reached a horrific level.
Speaking from Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Sharaf said that the current situation in Gaza is unlike anything she has ever witnessed. She confirmed that the emergency department has no space to receive the wounded, who are being treated on the floor of the hospital.
She said that doctors are working long hours that exceed their scheduled shifts, without access to food. She added, “We see people who haven’t eaten for several days collapsing from hunger.”
Since the beginning of last March, Israeli occupation forces have imposed a strict siege and closure of the crossings into Gaza, preventing thousands of trucks loaded with food, humanitarian and medical aid from entering, which has worsened the humanitarian situation in the Strip.
The famine has intensified over the past few weeks in light of the absence of aid and people’s inability to obtain flour and the most basic necessities of life.
In the last 24 hours, 10 residents of Gaza died due to famine and malnutrition, raising the total number of famine-related deaths since October 7, 2023, to 111.
