UNRWA: One in 10 children in Gaza suffering from malnutrition

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has confirmed that one in every 10 children examined at its clinics in Gaza is suffering from malnutrition.
Juliette Touma, UNRWA’s Director of Communications, told journalists in Geneva via video link from Amman, Jordan: “Our health teams are confirming rising rates of malnutrition in Gaza, especially since the tightening of the blockade over four months ago.”
It is worth noting that the Zionist regime’s army on Tuesday, demanded the immediate evacuation of residents from Gaza City and Jabalia to the south toward the Al-Mawasi area.
Medical sources in Gaza reported last Saturday that the number of children who have died from malnutrition so far has reached 67. They also noted that more than 650 children under the age of five face a real and imminent risk of acute malnutrition in the coming weeks, out of a total of 1.1 million children in Gaza.
The total blockade imposed by Zionist regime on Gaza has now entered its 133rd consecutive day, since Zionist regime’s forces closed all border crossings in early March, preventing the entry of food, medicine, and fuel, in what is one of the harshest instances of collective punishment in modern history.
Since October 7, 2023, Zionist regime has continued its genocidal war on Gaza, resulting so far in the martyring and wounding of more than 196,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women, along with over 11,000 missing persons and severe famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children, all amid ongoing US support and persistent international silence.
