Hamas and Islamic Jihad discuss Gaza ceasefire

Delegations from Hamas and Islamic Jihad met on Sunday to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in the Palestinian arena, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which is facing genocide at the hands of Zionist regime’s occupation forces.

In its statement, Hamas said its delegation, led by Mohammad Darwish, head of the leadership council, met with a delegation from Islamic Jihad headed by the Movement’s Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhalah.

The two delegations reflected on the immense sacrifices of the Palestinian people and the humanitarian suffering resulting from the genocidal war, starvation, and daily massacres carried out by the Zionist regime’s occupation, aimed at imposing dangerous and malicious plans on the Palestinian people and their future.

“The delegations also expressed great pride and admiration for the heroic performance of the fighters, marked by courage, bravery, and determination, and the significant losses they inflict daily on the enemy’s army.”

The Hamas and Islamic Jihad delegations discussed the developments in ongoing negotiations, stressing that any negotiations must lead to achieving the goals and aspirations of the Palestinian people, foremost among them ending the war, the complete withdrawal of occupation forces, opening the crossings, and reconstruction.

The two delegations also discussed the Zionist regime’s responses to proposals presented by mediators to reach a ceasefire and how to deal with them.
