SDPN holds International Conference on Imam Khomeini, Palestinian Issue

According to the Qods News Agency, the conference was organized by the Society for the Defense of Palestinian Nation (SDPN) in collaboration with the Quds News Agency (Qodsna), the Municipality of Tehran, and the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening. Some 200 foreign guests, political and cultural figures, activists in the field of Palestine and resistance, as well as high-ranking military and governmental officials took part in the event.

Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Hassan Rahimian, Secretary-General of the Society for the Defense of Palestinian Nation, spoke at the ceremony, presenting firsthand observations and documents from the era of Imam Khomeini's movement concerning the Palestinian issue over the past 62 years.

He stated that the foundation of Imam Khomeini's thought was entirely based on the Quran. The Holy Quran was the basis of Imam's belief, and he accepted the Quran in its entirety and all its dimensions.

He said that the late Imam believed in dismissing the oppressors and supporting the oppressed, and the movement of Imam was based on the verses and statements of the holy Quran, placing the Palestinian issue at the forefront of all of actions of late Imam Khomeini.

He went on to say that Imam Khomeini took the Palestinian issue out of the realm of Arab struggles and transformed it into an Islamic and humanitarian issue, and that one of the significant achievements of the late Imam was the establishment of Hezbollah in Lebanon, whose main role was to fight against the Zionist regime. Following this, the formation of other resistance groups in Iraq and the heroic Yemen, which today bear the banner of struggle against the Zionist regime, is a continuation of the movement that Imam Khomeini founded, he added.

According to Hojjatoleslam Rahimian, the path of resistance has reached a point where the slogan of 'Death to Israel' is raised in universities in the US and other parts of the world, and everyone protests against those who defend and supply this criminal regime.

Ali-Reza Zakani, Mayor of Tehran, stated at this conference that Imam Khomeini was the reviver of pure Islam in the present era. Imam Khomeini had a civilizational perspective on the Palestinian issue, Zakani emphasized.

From Imam Khomeini's perspective, the Palestinian issue was more than a minor and ethnic incident, the mayor said, adding that Imam regarded Palestine as the axis of civilization and the confrontation between truth and falsehood.

He further said that Imam Khomeini's view of the Palestinian issue was one of unity between Shia and Sunni followers, and from his perspective, Palestine is the place of Islamic unity.

Zakani also mentioned that in Imam's view, Palestine was a symbol of Islamic unity, and he emphasized this aspect, therefore, in the grand perspective of Imam, Palestine serves as a criterion that can distinguish the path of truth from falsehood.

According to the mayor, Imam Khomeini also established the International Quds Day in the context of Muslim unity. Imam Khomeini positioned Palestine as the focal point for the formation of the Islamic resistance, resulting in the emergence of robust resistance groups in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and other countries, all centered around the goal of liberating the holy Quds.

Nasser Abu-Sharif, Representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Iran, said that Imam Khomeini was very precise in defining and elucidating the fronts of truth and falsehood, emphasizing that the Zionist regime lies within the axis of falsehood and global arrogance and must be fought against.

Abu-Sharif went on to day that Imam Khomeini revived Islam once again, doing so with the monumental model he provided during the Islamic Revolution in 1979 regarding the necessity of supporting the Palestinian issue by the Islamic world.

Through his actions, Imam Khomeini empowered resistance groups in Palestine and other countries and legitimized them, Abu-Sharif said, adding that without Imam Khomeini's actions and positions, resistance groups in the current regional context would have no legitimacy or power; thus, we can consider him the reviver of the Palestinian issue, especially at a time when Arab countries, including Egypt, were undergoing shifts in their positions regarding their support for Palestine.

Abdullah Safi al-Din, representative of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement in Iran, stated at this conference that even before the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Imam Khomeini discussed the eradication of the Zionist regime, and this topic became a movement in the Islamic world. Safi al-Din added that everyone acknowledges that the issue of Palestine had been raised before Imam Khomeini's involvement, and after the actions of the late Imam, the conditions truly changed.

Safi al-Din also said that Imam Khomeini raised the call to support Palestine and placed the confrontation with the Zionist regime as a priority for dismantling this cancerous tumor. Imam Khomeini also emphasized the necessity of eliminating the US dominance in the region by advocating for the dismantling of the Zionist regime. Imam Khomeini, as a historic cleric, had always thought that the Palestinian people and the nations of the region should engage in comprehensive resistance, which has indeed been manifested in the current regional conditions with the transformations we are witnessing.

Khaled Qaddoumi, representative of Hamas in Tehran, stated that in a time when we are witnessing significant developments in the world, especially in the region, we remember the important positions of Imam Khomeini in support of Palestine on the 36th anniversary of his passing. In these days, the people of Gaza are experiencing a global war against the Zionist regime, which is being carried out with full US support.

Qaddoumi went on to say that the Islamic Revolution that Imam Khomeini led was a completely different and unique revolution in the world. It was Imam Khomeini who shaped and created the political discourse and the concept of struggle against oppression and aggression made by the Zionist regime. These days, world nations also see that in line with Imam Khomeini's lofty vision, the people of Gaza have conducted an operation called Operation Al-Aqsa Storm to once again restore Palestine to its real owners.
