Gazan captive martyred in Zionist regime’s custody

Palestinian human rights organizations announced the martyrdom of detainee Amr Oda from Gaza inside the notorious Israeli prison camp of Sde Teiman.

The Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) revealed in a joint statement on Thursday that Oda, 33, martyred on December 13, 2023.

The two human rights groups pointed out that the martyr, a father of three children, had been arrested along with his family members right from their home at the beginning of the ground invasion of Gaza on December 7, 2023.

This brings the number of identified Palestinian captives who have been martyred in Israeli jails since the onset of the genocide to at least 70, including 44 detainees from Gaza.

However, the number of identified martyrs who have died in Israeli prisons since 1967 has risen to 307, making this the bloodiest phase in the history of the prisoner movement.

The two rights groups stressed that torture was the main cause of death for the vast majority of martyrs who died after the genocide, along with medical crimes, starvation, and rape.

The Commission and the PPS emphasized that the escalating number of martyrs among Palestinian detainees is going to take a more serious turn as time passes with thousands of prisoners and detainees remaining in occupation prisons, while continuously exposed to systematic crimes.

They held the occupation fully responsible for such crimes and renewed their demand for the international human rights community to open an impartial international investigation into the deaths of prisoners and to move forward with effective decisions to hold the occupation leaders accountable for war crimes.
