Palestinian expert in interview with Qodsna:

US Democrats, Republicans use veto power to hinder establishing independent Palestinian state

Tamara Haddad told the Qodsna that both mains political parties in the United States are using their influence to get in the way of setting up an independent Palestinian state.

Tehran, Qodsna - Tamara Haddad, Palestinian Political Analyst, said in an exclusive interview with the Qods News Agency that the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States throw ashes in the eyes of the world, when it comes to the establishment of the Palestinian state.

“The Trump-Biden debate showed that both sides are two sides of the same coin,” Haddad said, adding that in the debates and election campaigns, “they repeatedly emphasized their support for Israel and its security.”

Pointing to the position of the ongoing presidential election contest between incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the Palestinian pundit said that “regarding the Palestinian issue, the two parties (Democrats and Republicans) are talking about the Palestinian state to throw ashes in the eyes of the world, and as long as the United States uses its veto power to confront the project of establishing an independent Palestinian state, the state of Palestine would not be formed.”

As to the votes of the Jewish minority in the US elections, she noted that “the deep state in the United States is controlled and directed by the Zionist lobby,” and that both the Republican and Democratic parties' strategies for supporting Israel are similar; therefore, “it does not matter whether the Republicans or the Democrats are at the top of the power, the US government will support Israel in the areas of intelligence, ammunition supply, and weapons shipments.”

She went on to say that in any case, “US aid and financial support to Israel comes from AIPAC and J Street, which are owned by American Jews.”

According to the analyst, “the United States is a strategic ally of Israel, so relations between the two sides are not overshadowed by international pressure and criticism.”

“The United States will defend Israel because Israel is seen as an advanced military base for the United States in the Middle East,” she said, arguing that “for this reason, US support continues despite widespread criticism from the world and even criticism within the US.”
