3rd anniversary of 33-day Lebanon war
Today, July 12, 2009, is the third anniversary of the beginning of the second Lebanon war. In the 33-day war in 2006, Israeli regime conceded a heavy defeat.
In the wake of the Israeli defeat in 2006 summer war with Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement, Hezbollah several Israeli officials were made to step down, including then Israeli army chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz and the then war minister Amir Peretz.
Another two Israeli officers, GOC Northern Command Udi Adam and Division 91 Commander Gal Hirsch, resigned their posts due to post-war Israeli war forces probes.
Zionist regime is still burnt in its fire flare and confronts with many problems.
The report of Winograd committee (Israeli committee to investigate the cause of failure in the summer war with Hezbollah) also hurt the Israeli army's image and admitted that the army was defeated in 33-day war with Hezbollah.
The Winograd report criticized "serious failures and flaws'' in Israel's handling of the 33-day war against Lebanon.
According to the report, Israel's decision makers followed Halutz blindly because they did not have the leadership capabilities to guide his actions.
Several experts including Israeli officials describe 2006 summer war as a great failure for the Israeli regime and a big victory for Hezbollah. In Lebanon however many were late to admit until the Israelis themselves said it was a victory for Hezbollah. For them, the war shattered the long-time belief that the Zionist regime has an undefeatable army.
The Israeli defeat in the 2006 war in Lebanon shocked the Zionist public as well as the entity’s allies in the Western world. A much smaller and lightly-armed Hezbollah managed to beat what many considered to be the word’s fourth best army.
Material damage from the war stands at an estimated 3.6 billion dollars, not counting lost revenues. The economic fallout from the war has been enormous.
