Israel tightens security in Al-Quds

Zionist regime's troops deployed extra troops in Al-Qus on Saturday to prevent the Palestinian authorities from holding celebrations, marking the city as the Arab Cultural Capital for 2009, Zionist regime's radio reported.

Zionist regime's Minister of Internal (Public) Security, Avraham Dichter, gave his orders to suppress any Palestinian attempt to celebrate the event, whether in Al-Quds or Nazareth, the radio added.

Dichter gave a number of orders prohibited such occasions, claiming that such action contradicted interim agreements between Zionist regime and the Palestinians.

Activities marking Al-Quds as the Arab Cultural Capital this year are scheduled to kick off later in the day in Beitlahm, where Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas along with Arab delegations arriving through Jordan are due to take part in the event.
