Fmr Israeli Minister’s Trial Begins

Former Treasury Minister Avraham Hirschson’s criminal trial will begin today with reading of the charges arrayed against him.  The charges consist of various offenses ranging from theft and bribery to money laundering and other financial offenses. The trial will take place in the Tel Aviv District Court.

Hirschson is accused of absconding with more than NIS 4 million in public funds, mainly as during his time as the head of the National Workers’ Union; of which purportedly NIS 2.5 million went into his own pocket directly.
