Larijani slams world bodies' passive stance on Gaza
Head of IRI Majlis ort Parliament, Ali Larijani, who holds the rotating presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Islamic countries, castigated in Algeria on Sunday the existing international structures for not embarking on due measures to alleviate the sufferings of the oppressed Palestinian people.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the 21st session of the executive committee of the assembly, Larijani referred to the consultations between the member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Tehran about the Zionist regime's 22-day offensive on Gaza and said despite sweet words, international bodies have not yet taken even the least step to remove the sufferings of the brave and oppressed people in Palestine.
He also took note of the current situations in Afghanistan and the people's problems because of foreign occupation, increase in opium cultivation and spread of terrorism, saying we are now witnessing a worsening situation in Pakistan as well.
The Iranian Majlis Speaker also advised the new government in the US to move beyond the failed policies of the past, which is to the benefit of both the regional nations and the US itself.
Larijani called terrorism and occupation as two sides of the same coin and said if we want to get rid of terrorism we should first try to put an end to the occupation and domination of Islamic countries.
Meanwhile, he considered as shameful attempts to distort the image of the sacred Resistance of Palestine, adding that it is regretful that the brave Palestinian Resistance of Hamas, which has resisted against the brutal Zionist regime, is referred to (by certain powers) as terrorist.
