GRC: Over 1,400 Palestinians martyred in Gaza since ceasefire

The Gaza Rights Center (GRC) has said that the Zionist regime’s occupation army martyred 1,481 Palestinians over the course of one year following the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, an average of more than four deaths per day.

This martyr toll reflects Zionist regime’s persistence in its genocide in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement, GRC said in a report marking one year since the ceasefire was announced, from October 10, 2025, to October 9, 2026.

“Those killed included 324 children, 164 women, and 51 elderly people over the age of 60. Children and women alone accounted for nearly one-third of the fatalities,” GRC added.

GRC underlined that the continued loss of life throughout the entire year points to the failure of existing arrangements to provide effective protection for Gaza civilians.

“The documented incidents point to the continued widespread use of lethal force by Israeli forces,” GRC said. According to its data, 83.8 percent of those killed died in airstrikes, while 237 Palestinians, including 60 children and 26 women, were shot dead from Israeli army sites near the so-called “Yellow Line,” a zone that covers about 70 percent of the Gaza Strip.

GRC added that these incidents raise serious concerns over Israel’s compliance with the principles of distinction and proportionality, as well as the obligation to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians.

In addition to daily casualties from Israeli attacks, GRC noted that Gaza residents continue to grapple with severe destruction, displacement, and the critical lack of safe shelter, compounded by ongoing restrictions on essential supplies and recovery efforts.

“Under these conditions, the continuing loss of life cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader set of actions and policies that keep Gaza’s population under constant threat and deprive them of the basic requirements for a safe and dignified life,” GRC said.

GRC called on the international community and mediators to take urgent action to put an end to all Israeli attacks targeting civilians and to provide effective protection for the Palestinian population.

GRC also demanded an immediate end to Israeli restrictions preventing the delivery of essential supplies, as well as the rehabilitation of destroyed homes and civil infrastructure.
