As long as there's occupation, there'll be resistance' –Hamas envoy:

Khaled Qaddoumi, the Hamas representative in Iran said that as long as there is occupation, there will be weapons of resistance and Hamas remains firmly committed to the option of jihad and resistance.

He made the remarks at the press conference on the latest developments in Palestine, which is being held by the Iran-based Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN) and in cooperation with Quds News Agency (Qodsna).

Our principled position on the issue of disarmament is clear. The main position of resistance movements is that weapons are part of the fight against enemies, and no resistance movement throughout history has given up its weapons as a precondition.

Weapons are one of the legitimate means of resistance of nations, and there is a direct relationship between occupation and resistance, he added.

As long as the occupying force exists, the resistance will also exist and will use weapons to confront the occupation, Khaled Qaddoumi noted.

Meanwhile, Hamas envoy also said that the main topic of today's meetings in Cairo is the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, while the first phase has not yet been fully implemented.

The design of the agreement and the so-called Trump peace plan have reached a stage where neither the Israelis nor the Americans themselves adhere to the principles they have set, he noted.

“Israel is obstructing this process and not only does not want peace, but it does not even want the Palestinians to have political legitimacy”, Qaddoumi added.

What is happening today in the West Bank and Quds is unprecedented. This situation is not a temporary incident, nor is it merely related to the presence of a mad or extremist minister in Netanyahu's government, he added.

Hamas official also said that Netanyahu's political and security doctrine since 1994 has been based on first creating new realities on the ground and then carving out a legal basis for them; So that there is no possibility of retreating from them. Accordingly, he ignores the principles and references of international law and at the same time imposes new realities that serve his expansionist and criminal agenda.

We are facing a historic and unprecedented stage of Zionist crimes; Especially the crimes committed against our heroes in the prisons of the occupiers, he noted.

“Repression and torture, use of plastic bullets and pepper gas, raids on prisoners' rooms, solitary confinement and sexual assaults; And in addition to all this, the attempt to legalize the torture and even killing of prisoners, under the so-called "illegal fighter law"; A law that is in fact nothing but a continuation of administrative detention, under which people are detained without any charges, or on the basis of false security charges”.

Today, more than 9,400 Palestinian prisoners are held in occupier prisons, including 370 children and 92 women.
