Red Cross urged to voice position against Israeli ban on prisoner visits
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has called on the Red Cross to take a clear and firm position against Israeli security minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s decision to renew the ban on visits to Palestinian prisoners.
In a statement on Friday, head of the Commission Ra’ed Abul-Homs said that Ben Gvir’s decision reflects persistence in isolating Palestinian prisoners from the outside world by denying them visits from families and rights and humanitarian groups, describing the move as “disregard for international and UN institutions.”
Abul-Homs urged the Red Cross and humanitarian bodies to publicly denounce Zionist regime’s ongoing abuses against Palestinian prisoners, expose its obstruction of international monitors, and issue a formal report documenting the full magnitude of violations in jails.
