Islamic Jihad holds US responsible for ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement says the US President Donald Trump's administration must be held accountable for the atrocities and acts of aggression being perpetrated by Zionist regime’s occupation forces against ordinary Palestinians in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.

The movement said in a statement on Thursday that Washington is directly responsible for the ongoing crimes in Gaza, as it is shielding the Zionist regime's war criminals against trial, and is encouraging them to violate all laws, humanitarian principles, and international regulations.

"The Zionist regime's attack on a group of Palestinian citizens on the beach of Khan Younis, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of them, in addition to blowing up houses and residential areas, reflects the Israeli cabinet's approach, and its decision to recklessly commit war crimes and crimes against humanity," the statement read.

The movement highlighted that the Zionist regime, through insistence on such aggressive policies, is seeking to impose new military and security realities in the Gaza Strip, and obstruct the implementation of the ceasefire agreement's clauses.

The movement emphasized that these actions demonstrate the Zionist regime's clear disregard for the efforts of mediators and its violation of all the understandings reached.

Palestinian medical sources said an Israeli drone strike killed two Palestinian beachgoers and wounded several others in southern Gaza on Wednesday, in the latest violation of a ceasefire in effect since October 10 last year.

The sources told the official Palestinian WAFA news agency that the bodies of the two victims and eight wounded people were taken to Nasser Hospital after the strike on civilians at the al-Mawasi beachfront in Khan Younis.

According to witnesses, the drone targeted civilians gathered at a seaside recreation area in al-Mawasi, causing the casualties.

Ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations have killed at least 1,007 Palestinians and injured 3,165 others since the truce. The bodies of 784 Palestinians have been recovered as well, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Since Zionist regime’s genocide on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, at least 73,018 Palestinians have been martyred and another 173,273 individuals wounded, while around 90% of the region's civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
