Families of martyrs file complaint against us, Israel over Iran riots
The families of martyrs of recent deadly riots in Iran have filed a criminal complaint and civil lawsuit against the US and the Zionist regime, accusing them of orchestrating and supporting acts of violence aimed at destabilizing the country.
The legal action was formally unveiled during a ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday, as the families announced their pursuit of justice through domestic and international legal channels for foreign-backed crimes committed during the unrest.
Addressing the event, IRGC Deputy Chief for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs General Sohrab Ali Shamkhani said the complaint and legal petition had been prepared by lawyers and would be pursued both inside and outside Iran.
He emphasized that the families are determined to seek accountability for the killings and destruction that occurred during the recent unrest.
General Shamkhani said Iran’s enemies attempted to intimidate the public during the riots through killings, looting, and the burning of public property, but noted that the Iranian nation thwarted the plot, drawing a parallel with the country’s resilience during the 12-day war imposed in June 2025.
He added that the American-Zionist front, with the assistance of France, Britain, and Germany, turned legitimate protests by bazaar merchants into violent unrest by investing resources and activating Mossad and CIA-linked cells.
He said the Islamic Revolution, as described by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, had created a historic turning point in the course of nations, endangering the interests of colonial powers.
From the very beginning, Iran’s enemies acted out of hostility and deployed all their capabilities against the country, including the freezing of Iranian assets, the planning of military assault, efforts to fragment Iran, the launch of the imposed war, and coup attempts, all aimed at destroying the Islamic system, he said.
General Shamkhani stressed that the Iranian nation has remained vigilant in the face of divisive plots, noting that enemies have consistently sought to break Iran apart. However, he said the Iranian people, regardless of ethnicity or tribal affiliation, have never embraced separatism and have not been influenced by such provocations.
He also decried the contradictory behavior by US officials, saying the American president claims to support the Iranian people and encourages street presence while simultaneously signing the harshest sanctions against those same people.
