Yemeni missile halts flights at Ben Gurion, sends settlers to shelters

Yemen’s Armed Forces have carried out a fresh missile strike against the Israeli-occupied territories, halting flights at Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv and setting off sirens across Israeli towns and settlements.

The anti-Israel operation was conducted on Sunday morning, with the regime’s media confirming that air traffic at Ben Gurion was halted after a missile had been fired from Yemen.

Hebrew-language daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that several flights were stuck in the air due to the Yemeni missile, and that four flights were experiencing delays in landing at Ben Gurion Airport, and were flying off the coast.

The Israeli occupation army claimed that air defense systems were working to intercept a missile fired from Yemen as a ballistic missile had been detected heading toward the occupied territories.

Israeli media also reported that air raid sirens were sounding west of the occupied al-Quds due to a ballistic missile coming from Yemen.

A statement by Yemen's military said, "The missile force of Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a specific military operation targeting Lod Airport, Israeli named 'Ben Gurion', in the occupied area of Yaffa, using a hypersonic ballistic missile. "

"The operation has successfully achieved its objective, causing millions of usurping Zionists to rush to shelters and bringing the airport to a standstill," it said.

The YAF confirmed their "continued ban on air traffic to Lod Airport", saying that most airlines have complied with the blockade in recent days, significantly impacting air traffic at the aforementioned airport

"The daily massacres committed against our people in the Gaza Strip are pushing Yemen, with its proud people, faithful leadership, and its mujahid army, to make greater efforts and work to escalate military operations that aim to halt the aggression against Gaza and lift the siege," the statement added.

Since March 18, when the Zionist regime resumed its aggression against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Yemeni military has launched 39 ballistic missiles and at least 10 drones at the occupied territories in support of Palestinians.

The latest Yemeni strike was the third attack in four days, and the fifth since last Sunday.

Earlier this month, the Israeli military failed to intercept the Yemeni missile that successfully struck the heavily fortified Ben Gurion airport and left at least six people injured.

The Yemeni Armed Forces began their campaign against Israeli-linked ships and targets in the occupied lands in November 2023, a month after the usurping regime unleashed its genocide in Gaza.

Yemen halted its attacks in January, when Israel accepted a Gaza ceasefire.

Two months later, however, Zionist regime unilaterally broke the Gaza truce and resumed its aggression, prompting the Yemeni forces to resume their operations in solidarity with Palestinians.

The operations, aimed at pressuring Israel to end its war on Gaza and lift the crippling siege, have triggered widespread disruptions in international shipping, tourism, and air travel, with dozens of global airlines suspending operations to and from Israeli airports.
