Israel has prevented the leaders of two prominent Palestinian civil society organisations from travelling to an international conference, months after outlawing their work.

“The designation of Quds Day is undoubtedly one of the most important and enduring legacies of Imam Khomeini,” the Arab figure stressed.
“More than four decades have passed since the political, religious and military fatwa of Imam Khomeini about the need for the destruction of Israel. With each passing day, the need to execute this command becomes more apparent and, of course, we have gotten closer to its realization,” the statement stated.
Israel has currently imprisoned 579 Palestinians without charge or trial, according to reports. This is the highest number of such detainees in the last five years.
