Tishrin: US must change Mideast policy

Prominent Syrian daily Tishrin wrote Thursday the US president's Middle East tour will fail to bring peace if Bush persists to bet on the good will of the Zionist regime.

 

"If Bush continues to bet on the willingness for peace of the Israeli regime, he will not achieve peace and he would further complicate matters and increase tensions," the Syrian government newspaper Tishrin said on Thursday.

 

"The Bush administration knows very well that the problem comes from Israel, but continues to ignore it," Tishrin noted.

The daily added that it is evident that Washington is reluctant to take a balanced policy approach and work seriously for a just peace which takes into account all aspects of this process.

 

American President George W. Bush is scheduled to visit the region in January purportedly to 'revive' the so called Middle East peace process.
