Global strike and civil disobedience to demand an end to the genocide in Gaza

A global campaign for a general strike and civil disobedience is set to launch today, Monday, April 7, to demand an end to the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
The Global Campaign to Stop the Genocide in Gaza has called for participation in the global general strike: “For Gaza, its children, and women, to stop its annihilation and killing, we call upon all free people of the world to participate in the global strike to demand an end to the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.”
In a press statement, the campaign also called for “civil disobedience until the genocide in Gaza stops.”
The calls have extended to Jordan, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, the UAE, Syria, occupied Jerusalem, and all Arab countries.
The Palestinian Forces Alliance in Lebanon called upon the masses of the Arab and Islamic nations and the free peoples of the world to respond to the call, “to make it a historic day of rejecting the brutal aggression and daily oppression against our steadfast and resilient people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, the alliance urged the Palestinian people in the refugee camps “to participate in a civilized and active manner in the events, adhering to the ethical principles that distinguish our Palestinian people, to express their rejection of the genocide and in support of our people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and all Palestinian territories until the aggression ends and our people’s goals of liberation and establishing their state over all of Palestine are achieved.”
The statement noted that the call comes as Israel resumes its genocidal war, tightening the siege and starving civilians in the Gaza Strip, while preventing the entry of food, medical supplies, and fuel in an attempt to implement forced displacement plans, “amid global condemnation and rejection of the enemy’s massacres and practices against the Palestinian people.”
Dozens of Tunisians held a protest on Saturday in front of the U.S. Embassy in their country, condemning Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and Syria, as well as U.S. and British attacks on Yemen, and demanding an end to the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip and the lifting of the siege.
Dozens of participants stood outside the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Tunis, raising slogans condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression and siege on the Gaza Strip, such as: “Shame on them, they imposed a siege on Gaza,” and “Raise your voice—why are our brothers in Gaza dying?”
Protesters also demanded the closure of the U.S. Embassy in Tunisia and the expulsion of U.S. Ambassador Joey Hood, in protest at the aggression against Palestine, Yemen, and Syria.
In response to the calls, a widespread movement has begun in Bahrain in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, demanding an end to the genocide and the annulment of the normalization agreement with Israel.
Bahrain is witnessing a broad public mobilization in support of the Palestinian cause and in rejection of the genocide being carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip, following a series of massacres over recent days that claimed the lives of hundreds of martyrs.
In the “October 7” square in the Adliya area of the capital, Manama, dozens held a sit-in rejecting the genocide and calling for the cancellation of the normalization agreement with Israel.
Activists held banners reading, “Palestine is my cause,” and “The enemy violates the nation.” The ‘Bahraini National Initiative Against Normalization with the Zionist Enemy’ issued a statement renewing the demand to stop the aggression, sever ties with Israel, and boycott companies that support it.
The statement, signed by 27 institutions and associations, affirmed “the Bahraini people’s principled and steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people in liberating their land and establishing a Palestinian state over the entire Palestinian homeland.”
The statement also called on the Bahraini government “to bear its religious, national, and pan-Arab responsibility by listening to the voice and living conscience of the people, who demand the closure of the enemy’s embassy and severing of ties with the Israeli entity, which has been condemned by the International Court of Justice for committing genocide, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing.”
On March 18, the Israeli army resumed its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, martyring 1,335 people and injuring 3,297, thus reneging on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had lasted 58 days since January 19, 2025.
With American support, the Israeli army has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in over 164,000 martyrs and injured, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 missing persons.
