Hezbollah secretary-general:
Operation Al-Aqsa Storm revitalizes Palestinian cause
Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Sheikh Naeem Qassem has emphasized that Operation Al-Aqsa Storm has revitalized the Palestinian cause, adding that Hezbollah will continue the path of resistance.
According to Quds News Agency (Qudsna), Sheikh Naeem Qassem said that the message of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm spread across the world, leading to demonstrations in the United States, France, the UK, and other Western countries; therefore, this is a true revolution at the global level.
He made the remarks in a video message at the 13th edition of the conference "Gaza; Symbol of Resistance," underscoring that the Islamic resistance in Lebanon will remain prepared, and the martyrs’ blood will not be in vain.
The Sheikh remarked that one of the results of Imam Khomeini's thought is the faith-based and strategic perspective he held towards the occupying Israeli regime when he stated, "Israel must be wiped out from history," since this regime is an aggressor and recognizes no rights for the Palestinian people.
The Hezbollah official added that head of Hamas's political bureau Ismail Haniyeh and his successor Yahya Sinwar have been martyred, and 160,000 Palestinians have also been martyred or injured. The systematic destruction of Gaza has been pursued, but these sacrifices have thwarted this unjust plan and prevented the fading of the Palestinian issue, paving the way for a bright future.
He also emphasized that the alternative to these sacrifices during various stages of the war was surrender; however, the dignified people, armed with resistance, brought this war to an end, and Hamas fighters and the Al-Qassam Brigades demonstrated their capabilities in leading the resistance, while Islamic Jihad and Al-Quds Brigades also participated alongside them in the battlefield.
Qassem added: "We congratulate the Palestinian people, the people of Gaza, and the fighters of the resistance. We congratulate them on this agreement, which has not changed from what was proposed in May 2024. This reflects the steadfastness of the resistance and proves that it has achieved its demands, while the Israelis have failed to realize their objectives."
He also referred to Iran's support for the resistance, stating: "Among those who played a significant role in neutralizing the Israeli enemy's plot, the most important supporter is the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Imam Khamenei. He has consistently emphasized standing alongside the Palestinian people until their liberation from the sea to the river, providing various forms of support—spiritual, military, material, political, and even the blood of martyrs. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Quds Force have dedicated all their capabilities to this cause, sacrificing martyrs along the way, including the martyred commander of the resistance axis, Qassem Soleimani, who is rightly regarded as the martyr of Al-Quds, along with Hajj Abu Mahdi, Hajj Abbas, and other martyrs who all fell in the path of Palestinian freedom."
The event organized by the Society for the Defense of Palestinian Nation (SDPN) in cooperation with Qods news agency (Qodsna).
January 19 has been designated by the Iranian parliament as the Gaza Day in the Iranian calendar.
The day was named in the aftermath of the resistance put up by the residents of the coastal enclave in the face of the full-scale Israeli invasion which led to Gaza’s victory in the 22-day Gaza War during December 27, 2008-January 18, 2009.
