Death by Algorithm: Israel’s AI War in Gaza

The Zionist regime’s use of artificial intelligence to target the Palestinian people in Gaza was scrutinized by the Middle East Monitor in an article written by Binoy Kampmark.

Tehran, Qodsna - Striking reports say the Zionist military forces' use of AI to identify and target individuals in Gaza. The use of AI has failed to limit harm to civilians, instead bolstering the regime’s ability to expand target sets, likely resulting in maximum damage.

The joint investigation by +972 and Local Call reveals the advanced development of an AI system known as "Lavender," which goes beyond identifying military buildings and structures used by militants.

During the recent war in Gaza, the Zionist regime’s military extensively relied on "Lavender," identifying thousands of Palestinians as potential targets for airstrikes, marking a departure from their previous doctrine of targeting senior military operatives.

The use of the "Lavender" system was supplemented by another automated platform, "Where's Daddy?" which tracked targeted individuals to their family residences, resulting in mass civilian casualties, particularly women and children.

The Zionist army’s willingness to bomb family homes without hesitation and its authorization to kill civilians reveal a callous and murderous approach.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over the use of artificial intelligence in the Zionist regime’s bombing campaign, particularly in densely populated residential areas, resulting in a high level of civilian casualties.

These revelations suggest a deliberate and reckless misidentification, leading to a technologically advanced form of mass murder rather than a proportionate and precise approach to warfare.
