Administrative detainees to start open-ended hunger strike in 2 weeks

The Administrative captives’ committee has announced that the open-ended hunger strike to be launched by Palestinian administrative detainees in Israeli jails is set to start in two weeks.

In a press statement on Monday, the committee said that the Palestinian administrative detainees will go on an open-ended hunger strike on the 18th of June, stressing that the major demand of the committee is ending the policy of administrative detention.

“Administrative detainees will embark on an integrated national project to combat administrative detention policy,” the committee underlined, pointing out that the project includes several protest steps topped by the open-ended hunger strike and the continued boycott of the Israeli courts.

The committee called on the Palestinian Authority to respond to the administrative detainees’ demands and make them a national priority.

It also called on the Palestinian resistance factions and people at home and abroad to support administrative detainees in their struggle against the Israeli occupation.

Around 4,900 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in the Israeli prisons, 1,000 of whom are held under administrative detention.
